Are you listening?

Brother George Claseman

Elders Quorum First Counselor

With so much that is going on right now. Are you listening?  With all the distractions we are facing. Are you listening? With what your family maybe going through. Are you listening? In a song I heard. I can not remember the name of it or the singer. He said in one of his lines in the song something like this. Turn the noise down and the quiet up. I have a hard time with that. I have always had some kind of noise always going on. Usually music. Noise now a days can be anything. From tv to music, social media, over extended scheduling of work and play, add to all that I didn’t mention because the list will be long. We all have our own vices when it comes to time. Again, I ask are you listening? Heavenly father talks in a quiet whisper. That can be as loud as a thunder clap if we are listening. Right now we need to be listening. Turning the noise down and the quiet up. He has instructed President Nelson to teach in our home more. To keep it like a temple. Sacred and full of love. It is our sanctuary from the noise of the world. A place where we can find peace and love and the healing hands of our Father above. A place to read (yes if you have kids I know your burden of finding a quiet spot for a moment). A place to pray and ponder what you have read and ask questions if needed. A place to rest and relax and heal from the great thing we call life. I understand and live as any of you. I know its not easy and I have to much noise in my life as well. The trick is to be ready and to act upon the promptings that Heavenly Father through the Spirit of the Holy Ghost has for us.

Please find the quiet places during the day to listen. Please teach others the meaning of turning the noise down. Weather it is our kids or coworkers or neighbors. We all need that clear quiet voice of love peace and comfort. Some days you are that voice to others. Some days others are the voice to you. May God bless you in finding these times. Where ever they may be. To strengthen you. To lift you up. To heal you. I say these things with a knowing heart and mind that God lives. That the Lord Jesus Christ is the redeemer of all of our lives.  That the Holy Ghost will comfort us, if we listen to the small and quiet voice. In Jesus Christ name I testify. Amen
