Spring cleaning

Nathan Logan

Ward Executive Secretary

This week our kids are done with school, some things have changed with work, we are starting to venture back out into public, and we have started with our spring cleaning, life goes on. I've always liked spring cleaning, it is a fun time to see and recognize the changes that have happened in the last year. Our kid's clothes that don't fit anymore and my clothes that have somehow shrunk. Sorting through toys or hobbies that have been persued or let go. And of course going though that one treasure box of personal items from your childhood and deciding if it is time to keep it for another year or pass it on to a child of your own, or realizing it's not something you need or want anymore.

 This a great time to spring clean our lives. There are things in each of our personal treasure boxes, and after careful examination of each item we must decide to keep it for another year, give it away, or to set it aside. This is a great time to recognize the love you have for those around you and the impact they have been in your life. It's a time to renew your resolve to follow the teachings of our savior and a time to repent of personal sins and misdeeds. Keep only the best things in your treasure box: family, friends, faith, forgiveness, and all that invites peace into your life. Let's remove those things that weigh you down and cause doubt, fear, and guilt into your life. Invite the savior to help you with this treasure box. Repent and feel the love that our Father in heaven has for you.

D&C 19:16 For behold, I, God, have suffered these things for all, that they might not suffer if they would repent;

Mat 6:20-21 But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.

I know that our Heavenly Father and our Savior care personally for you and for me. I know that we can all repent, all be forgiven, and all be welcomed to our heavenly home when our time here comes to an end.
