the Lord is begging us to turn to him

Sister Lora Moreno

Primary First Counselor

"I have often wondered why Joseph and Hyrum and their families had to suffer so much. It may be that they came to know God through their suffering in ways that could not have happened without it. Through it, they reflected on Gethsemane and the cross of the Savior. As Paul said, “For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake"

There is a purpose for our suffering.

This year has been difficult for my extended family. We lost my grandma, my uncle barely survived a heart attack, and just recently another family member was diagnosed with cancer. It seems like tragedies after tragedies are all around us. I was at the point where I didn't think any peace was possible.

But at that point, it feels like there is nothing left to do but pray. And when I do, I feel peace.

How is it possible to feel peace with so much uncertainty around us? That's the miracle of Christ. His peace is unlike any worldly thing. We can't obtain any earthly thing that can give us that peace. No social media app can give us that peace. It only comes from Christ.

I'm really grateful for that knowledge. It's helping me through these difficult times. I can't help but think that the Lord is begging us to turn to him. Let us allow our suffering to turn us towards our Savior.
