God Be with You Till We Meet Again, Hymn 152

I've thinking about ways that we can use hymns to help us feel the spirit in our homes during this time that we are separated and I will be sharing a hymn (or more) each Sunday.

"Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all."  2 Thessalonians 3:16

"The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace."  Numbers 6:24-26

This beautiful hymn often strikes a sentimental chord in the hearts of Latter Day Saints. It is a song wishing protection and safety for loved ones at a time of farewell. The author of the hymn text, Jeremiah Eames Rankin, explained that the text was composed based on the original meaning of the word 'good-bye' which is 'God be with you'. The hymn was first published in 1883 in a collection titled "Gospel Bells".
