This week I was re-reading a weekly letters written by my son Dallin while he was serving his mission in California. I love this spiritual nugget so much that I wanted to share it: "We can't PROVE to other people the truthfulness of the Gospel. No matter how hard we try to tell them so, they can always wiggle their way out of it. All that we can do, as both missionaries AND disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, is bear frequent and fervent testimony and let the Holy Ghost do the proving. Our purpose is to both show and tell the truths of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but we can't FORCE people to accept it. If you will all remember back to the Pre-Mortal Life (well, we can't actually remember it, but remember what you've learned about it), that was the object of Satan's plan: To force us to behave and return to God's presence that way. Well, I've got a question for you all: If you are forced to do something by your boss/mom/superior or whatever, what is your attitude while you are doing it? I'm guessing most of you just answered that you are bitter about it, or that you don't WANT to do it, or something similar to that. Now, think of this: What is your attitude when your boss/mom/superior ASKS you to do something and promises you something in return? Aha! Now your attitude changes to wanting to do it to get the blessing. We're the same way in our lives. If we don't WANT to follow the commandments, or we don't WANT to follow God's counsel, then we either won't do it or we'll do it begrudgingly, and I don't know which one is worse. But if we sincerely WANT to follow the commandments, WANT to become a better person, then we'll do it gladly and willingly. Yeah, we won't be perfect, but we'll know that we are doing the best that we can. And that will get us what we seek: Eternal Life." ❤️❤️❤️ The best way we can persuade others to come unto Christ is to live our testimony and let the Spirit do the teaching.
