Do you ever have days where you feel like you can’t do anything right? Days where it seems like everything you touch completely falls apart? Days where it seems like everything is uphill with no relief in sight? We all have days like that!
One thing that helps me when I am having a day like that is to think about my ancestors and the many trials and struggles they endured. My great, great grandmother, Elizabeth Grosjean, came to America from England all by herself at age 17. He mother was sick and dying and she sent Elizabeth to go live with some family members in Idaho so she could work and earn enough money to 1) pay her keep and 2) send home so that her siblings could join her in America. What a task. I can’t imagine the pressure on such a young person, but she knew her family was depending on her, so she buckled down and did what it took. She faced many trials but she never gave up. I know that if my family members from generations past could endure with far fewer conveniences than we have, I can too.
Don't Quit by John Greenleaf Whittier

When things go wrong as they sometimes will, When the road you're trudging seems all up hill, When the funds are low and the debts are high And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When care is pressing you down a bit, Rest if you must, but don't you quit. Life is strange with its twists and turns As every one of us sometimes learns And many a failure comes about When he might have won had he stuck it out; Don't give up though the pace seems slow— You may succeed with another blow. Success is failure turned inside out— The silver tint of the clouds of doubt, And you never can tell just how close you are, It may be near when it seems so far; So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit— It's when things seem worst that you must not quit..
