Brothers and Sisters.
We have been richly blessed this past weekend. We have enjoyed the opportunity to hear from our Prophet, President Nelson. We are so blessed to have a modern day prophet to reveal the will of the Lord to us. The messages and testimonies of our general leaders have also filled our souls and testified of truth. Easter Sunday was the culmination of such a wonderful weekend. We are so grateful for the atonement of our Savior, Jesus Christ, whose church this is. In pondering on conference, an idea I'd learned many years ago comes to mind, which is possible for each conference we participated in, whether it be general, stake, ward; the doctrine of conference. In essence if you prayerfully prepare for conference and present to the Lord your concerns, fears, worries, troubles, he will bring comfort, assurance or answers by way of the conference. A topic that is covered, a principle that is touched upon, a testimony that is shared, an experience that is told, these will bring thoughts to your heart, soul and mind, comfort, answers, peace, testimony, conversion, through the Holy Ghost. Now, yes, I know conference is over, yet I believe we can have this same experience as we prayerfully review, read, study and ponder the messages from conference after it has concluded. The power of the doctrine of conference can bring blessings to our lives. I believe this to be true. In this week's Come, Follow Me we read Doctrine and Covenants 33, revelation given through Joseph Smith the Prophet to Ezra Thayre and Northrop Sweet: 12 Behold, verily, verily, I say unto you, this is my gospel; and remember that they shall have faith in me or they can in nowise be saved; 13 And upon this rock I will build my church; yea, upon this rock ye are built, and if ye continue, the gates of hell shall not prevail against you. As we studied this I was reminded of a message from General Conference By Elder Chi Hong (Sam) Wong of the Seventy titled "They Cannot Prevail; We Cannot Fall" from the Sunday morning session. He said: "Therefore, where our foundation is really matters, and this has a decisive effect on the outcome ultimately and eternally." He continued, "I hope and pray that we all will find and stay on the sure foundation as we establish our future life." He then quoted Helaman 5:12: “And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall.” We pray that each of us will not only recognize this rock, our Savior and Redeemer Jesus Christ and his gospel, but also that we will allow ourselves to be built on this rock that we will "continue" so the "gates of hell" will not prevail against us. This is only possible because of and through Jesus Christ, whom we love and worship. We love you, we pray for you. The Washington Utah Stake Presidency Noel Jackson
